Wolverine's Scent Trails Now Toggleable with Hint Button

Insomniac's latest patch for Marvel's Wolverine adds a 'Hint' button to toggle story-related scent trails, giving players more control after community feedback.

Wolverine's Scent Trails Now Toggleable with Hint Button

Have you ever felt like a game was holding your hand too much? Well, Insomniac heard you loud and clear. In the latest patch for Marvel's Wolverine, they've finally added a toggle for those story-related scent trails that some players found a bit too helpful. Now, you can choose whether to use them or not with a simple press of a button.

The update dropped on October 6, and it's all thanks to community feedback. Insomniac explained on Twitter/X that they made the scent trails optional based on what players were saying. Now, you can toggle them on or off using the Hint button, which is mapped to R3 on the PlayStation 5 controller. This also applies to other features like audio cues and nightmare roots, so you can explore the environment and find the Nightmare Cabin on your own if you prefer.

"Our latest update for Marvel's #WolverinePS5 is live and adds a new 'Hint' toggle for story-related Scent trails based on community feedback!" Insomniac wrote. "With recent updates, you now have more control over the visibility of Scents, Audio Cues, and Nightmare Roots." The patch also includes fixes for crashes and bugs reported by the community.

This isn't the first time Insomniac has tweaked the scent trails. Back in late September, they gave players the option to turn off scents for Whiskey Bottle trails, Material Crate Audio Clues, and Nightmare Door Roots. Before that, they reduced the opacity of the trails to make them less intense. It's clear they're listening and responding to player feedback.

On September 15, Insomniac said they were "actively engaged with our player community and gathering feedback to further refine the player experience." And players have definitely been vocal. Wolverine might be Insomniac's most-debated game ever, with hot topics like scent trails, white paint guiding players, and even the design of Wolverine himself. Some fans weren't sure about actor Liam McIntyre in the role, but he took the criticism in stride, thanks to his experience playing Spartacus.

The full patch notes for Update 1.002.001 confirm the new toggle for story-related scent trails and mention that the update addresses community-reported bugs and crashes for better stability. So, if you're the type who likes to explore without hints, now you have the power to do so.

Will you be turning off the scent trails for a more immersive experience, or do you prefer the guidance? Let us know in the comments!
