Diablo Unbound Board Game Lets You Battle Solo

Diablo is getting a new co-op board game called Diablo Unbound, playable solo, launching on Gamefound in Q1 2027 with a dungeon battler experience.

Ever wanted to dive into Sanctuary without booting up a screen? You're in luck. Diablo is getting its own board game, and it's called Diablo Unbound. The best part? You can play it solo or with friends, so no need to wrangle a party if you just want to grind some loot on your own.

Developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged, Diablo Unbound is described as a "dungeon battler" that mixes several genres and mechanics for a highly replayable co-op (or solo) action experience. It's officially licensed and will hit the Gamefound crowdfunding platform in Q1 2027. As you'd expect from a crowdfunding campaign, there will be stretch goals, exclusive rewards, and additional content to unlock.

So how does it actually play? The game is split into three acts, each containing three dungeon levels. You'll explore dungeons, clear every level of enemies, and fight your way toward a powerful boss at the end. Along the way, you'll collect gear and experience points to prepare for the showdown. Loot is a big deal—you earn it by opening chests, defeating elite enemies, completing side quests, and building killstreaks. Bosses hold the best gear, but drops are random, so every run feels like a gamble.

You can choose from fan-favorite classes: Barbarian, Rogue, Paladin, and Sorceress. They'll face off against Khazra, Demons, and Undead monsters. Each dungeon session takes about 60 to 90 minutes, while completing a full act can take up to 4.5 hours. After finishing the third act, you can enter Torment endgame mode, where your group can face any boss of your choosing in its ultimate form. Between encounters, there's a Town Phase where you can improve skills, manage loot, and respec your builds.

"You get the high-stakes showdowns of a boss battler—and hordes of monsters that never let up. But you don't crawl through dungeons. You battle your way down. That's why we call it a dungeon battler," said GCU CEO Jakub Wiśniewski in a press statement.

If you want an early taste, you can try the game at SPIEL Essen, the board game trade fair in Germany, from October 22-25. That's this week, so if you're in the area, go check it out.

What do you think? Will you be picking up Diablo Unbound when it launches?
