Magic: The Gathering The Hobbit Booster Box Gets Big Discount Ahead of Prime Day

Are you looking to crack some The Hobbit packs without breaking the bank? Well, you're in luck. Amazon has just dropped the price on Magic: The Gathering's The Hobbit booster boxes ahead of its Prime Big Deal Day sale in early October.

Usually, these Universes Beyond booster boxes go for $209.70 for 30 packs, but this deal brings the box down to $169.99. That's around $5.66 per pack instead of the usual $6.99. And if that wasn't enough, you also get a foil box topper featuring a reprint from The Lord of the Rings set, complete with special borderless alternate artwork.

The Hobbit marks a return to Middle-earth after 2023's hugely popular The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. It also brings Magic back to a more traditional fantasy setting, which is a nice change of pace after the Marvel Super Heroes set. And with Magic's packed 2026 release schedule, it's been hard to keep up.

But what about the cards themselves? If you're cracking packs over launch weekend, you'll want to keep an eye out for Gleaming Splendor. This enchantment creates Treasure tokens whenever you draw your second card of a turn, and it has synergy with Smaug, The Magnificent if you're building around red and white. Its additional mana ability even lets you force other players to draw a card. At the time of writing, Gleaming Splendor is commanding around $530, making it a very lucrative pull.

Before you get too excited, there are a couple of caveats. These prices are from TCGplayer, and there's no value attached to The One Ring just yet. More importantly, these are launch-day prices. Pre-release and early-market pricing can be extremely volatile, so don't expect these numbers to remain unchanged for long.

Still, if you're looking to get into The Hobbit, this deal is a great opportunity. The set is already proving popular, and with the discount, it's a solid pickup for both collectors and players. Just remember to act fast, as the sale is likely to end soon.
