The Division 2's Echoes of Central Park: Slow Burn Horror?

Ever jumped into a new game expansion expecting instant thrills, only to find it plays hard to get? That's exactly how our first impressions of The Division 2's Echoes of Central Park felt.

If you're like me, horror is a weird beast. Scary movies? Hard pass. But horror games? Totally different story. I can vibe with the tension, the atmosphere, the creeping dread. So when I heard The Division 2 was leaning into a more horror-themed direction with this new content, my curiosity was piqued.

Echoes of Central Park seems to be aiming for that spooky sweet spot. But here's the catch: it doesn't show its hand very fast. The opening hours are a slow burn, and if you're expecting jump scares right out of the gate, you might be waiting a while.

That said, the potential is there. The atmosphere builds, the setting intrigues, and you can feel the horror influences lurking beneath the surface. It's just that the pacing might test your patience if you're not in it for the long haul.

For Division fans, this could be a fresh twist on the familiar formula. The shift toward horror themes is a bold move, and if it pays off, it could add a whole new layer to the endgame grind. But will it stick the landing? Only time will tell.

So far, Echoes of Central Park is a mixed bag of promising vibes and slow reveals. If you're a fan of both The Division and horror-tinged experiences, it might be worth sticking with it to see where it goes. But if you need instant gratification, you might want to brace yourself for a slower ride.

What do you think? Are you willing to wait for the scares, or does a slow burn kill the mood? Let us know in the comments!
