Did you catch that blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2? If you were scanning the Arasaka data archive in episode 4, you might have spotted someone who looks suspiciously like female V from Cyberpunk 2077. And naturally, the internet is losing its mind.
The scene in question happens when D. and Roman break into an Arasaka Data Archive, hoping to find out who was behind the massacre of D.'s Snake Nation clan. Instead, Capri pulls up a list of individuals Arasaka is hunting for the Capricorn Project. That wall of faces includes D., season 1 protagonist David Martinez, and someone who bears a striking resemblance to the default female V model. The hair and face markings are eerily similar, and fans on social media were quick to point it out.
But is it really V? Not everyone is convinced. There are minor differences in appearance, and some fans are pushing back hard against the idea that CD Projekt Red would ever commit to a canon version of V. After all, part of the magic of Cyberpunk 2077 is that your V is yours. The debate has kicked up quite a hornet's nest.
It's also worth noting that this same screen seems to be packed with Easter eggs. Sharp-eyed viewers have spotted references to Dum Dum, Evelyn, and even Melissa Rory – the cyberpsycho with Mantis Blades from the original 2013 Cyberpunk 2077 teaser. So it's very possible this is just a fun nod rather than a canon confirmation.
Still, the theory has merit. Arasaka would absolutely be interested in V for Project Capricorn, given V's unusually high capacity for cyberware – a prerequisite for surviving having Capri inserted into your head. That kind of logic makes the Easter egg feel a little more intentional.
And this isn't the only connection to Cyberpunk 2077 in the new season. Soulkiller makes a return, the experimental tech that saw Johnny Silverhand invade V's head in the game. In Edgerunners 2, digital construct Capri merges with D. over the course of the season. Plus, later this week, a surprise Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2-themed update is coming to Cyberpunk 2077, featuring a new dual-wielding playstyle and cyberware customization.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is streaming now on Netflix. So, what do you think? Is that really female V, or are we all just seeing things? Will you be picking up the new Cyberpunk 2077 update? Let us know!
