Ever tried to find an infantry-only match in Wardogs and come up empty? You're not alone. Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammers has admitted the studio is "failing on getting Infantry servers to you guys."
In a tweet, Brammers explained that the team originally planned to let community servers handle infantry-only modes, but those servers just aren't popping up enough. Infantry-only servers strip out vehicles—both ground and air—so firefights come down to pure skill and tactics. In theory, that means more intense matches where you can't rely on a helicopter to bail you out. In practice, though, it's been hard to consistently find a game.
"We're failing on getting Infantry servers to you guys," Brammers said. "We originally decided to let community servers run them, but we're not seeing enough of them." He also noted that infantry mode should be a way to "change the game to remove some of the power vehicles."
Since Wardogs launched into early access a couple of weeks ago, it's pulled in hundreds of thousands of players. That's great news for a smaller studio like Bulkhead, but it's also a curse: keeping everything running smoothly takes serious attention, which means bigger updates can take longer than planned. The player queue has been a headache since day one, and Brammers acknowledges the team is going through a trial by fire.
Still, he insists the trajectory hasn't changed. "We are learning more and more how to balance the game to our vision," he said. "Excited for seasons two and three and to continue making the game." That suggests we can expect more modes—and hopefully plenty of servers to support them—in future seasons.
One thing's for sure: Wardogs isn't slowing down. The price will increase throughout Steam early access, and Brammers has a blunt message for anyone who doesn't like it: "If you don't agree with that, please don't buy it." Ouch. But hey, at least he's honest.
So, what do you think? Are you sticking with Wardogs through the growing pains, or waiting for those infantry servers to show up before you jump back in? Let us know in the comments.
