Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Could Take 100+ Hours to 100%

If you're the kind of player who has to see and do everything, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is going to eat your free time alive.

According to IGN, director Naoki Hamaguchi said in a recent interview that players chasing full completion will "easily" spend more than 100 hours with the game. That's not a speedrun figure, either. It's the kind of number that turns your backlog into a distant memory.

Hamaguchi explained his own approach to playing through the game, which is set to launch on April 8, 2027 for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox. "If I play through the standard flow from start to finish and check every single asset and element in the game, it easily takes over 100 hours," he said. "Of course, I can't play it that way every time. As director, I don't have that kind of time, so sometimes I'll skip battles entirely and focus on checking the main story."

That's a pretty telling detail. When the person in charge has to cut corners just to get through it, you know there's a mountain of content waiting for the rest of us.

IGN notes that this points to a seriously hefty playtime. The first two games in the trilogy were already massive, and Revelation is clearly aiming to go even bigger, packing in more minigames, more combat, and more explorable areas for you to get lost in.

Hamaguchi also shared just how dedicated he is to the project, even when he's supposed to be off the clock. "As long as time allows, I'll go through these steps as much as I can," he said. "Just yesterday, between another round of interviews, I actually brought a PS5 controller with me and checked the latest build of the game. Even while traveling for work, if I have a bit of spare time, I try to check the latest version and see if there are any problems."

Now that's commitment. The man is literally carrying a controller around just in case he gets a spare minute to poke at the build.
