WoW Forever Beta Extended: More Time to Play Before Launch

Did you miss the chance to jump into the WoW Forever beta? You're in luck—Blizzard just gave everyone a few extra days.

The beta was originally supposed to end on October 20, but Blizzard announced on X/Twitter that it's extending the test period by three days. Now you can play until October 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET. That's a whole weekend of extra time to explore, quest, and get a feel for the Classic+ experience before it goes live.

And if you're worried about losing your character name, don't be. Blizzard will open name reservations on October 27, letting you lock in names for up to three characters. Just make sure your choices don't break the rules—Blizzard has been strict about naming policies.

It's easy to forget that WoW Forever isn't actually out yet. Since the beta went live in September, players have been absolutely hooked. In fact, over a million characters have already been created in the beta alone. Even the developers were surprised by the huge turnout for a temporary test version.

Once the full game launches on November 4, all you'll need to play is an active subscription or a friend code (though that's only temporary). Given the beta's popularity, the launch is likely to be even bigger.

Fans have praised how faithfully the beta captures the spirit of early World of Warcraft. Blizzard has deliberately avoided some modern quality-of-life improvements, like shared tagging, to keep that classic feel. But they haven't been afraid to include content from later expansions—like the beloved 'Kyle's Gone Missing' quest in Mulgore—when it fits.

Of course, there have been some bumps along the way. Blizzard has cracked down hard on gold selling and enforced strict character naming rules. There's even been some griefing, with players putting campfires at new player spawn points so they die before the intro cinematic finishes. Ah, the joys of a fresh community.

If you haven't tried the beta yet, you still have a couple of days. Just remember: any progress you make will be wiped when the game launches. So go have fun, but don't get too attached to your character.
