Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Switch 2 Port Delayed to Early 2027

Were you planning to squad up against the Xenomorphs on your shiny new Switch 2? You'll have to wait a bit longer. Cold Iron Studios has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has been delayed to early 2027. The port was originally supposed to drop this month.

For those who missed it, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is the four-player co-op PvE sequel that just launched on other platforms. You and up to three friends team up to survive waves of Xenomorphs, and it's been a solid follow-up to the original. But if Nintendo's new hardware was your platform of choice, the wait just got a lot longer.

The studio didn't give a specific reason for the delay, but porting a demanding co-op shooter to Switch 2 clearly takes time. The good news? The game is already out elsewhere, so you can jump in right now if you have another system. The bad news? Switch 2 owners are left waiting until early 2027.

Delays like this are always a bummer, especially when a game has already launched on other platforms. It's a reminder that not every version of a multiplatform release arrives day and date. For Cold Iron, getting the Switch 2 version right is likely the priority, even if it means a longer wait.

So what does this mean for you? If you're a Switch 2 owner itching for some co-op alien-blasting action, you'll need to be patient. In the meantime, you could check out the game on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox if you have access to those platforms. Or you could replay the first Fireteam Elite to scratch that itch.

We'll keep an eye out for any updates on the Switch 2 version as we get closer to 2027. Hopefully, Cold Iron can deliver a port that runs smoothly and looks great on Nintendo's hardware.

Are you disappointed by the delay, or were you planning to play on another platform anyway? Let us know in the comments!
