Indie Stealth RPG Embraces Majora's Mask-Style Time Loop

Remember the stress of Majora's Mask's three-day cycle? That constant ticking clock, the pressure to get everything done before the moon crashes down? Well, get ready to feel that again, because a new indie stealth RPG is diving headfirst into that same time-loop mechanic.

It's called Bunderkin: The Ocular Eclipse, and it's being developed by Studio Zubio. The game has already blown past its Kickstarter goal of $44,444, raising nearly $175,000 so far. That's almost four times the initial ask, so clearly, people are intrigued.

So, what's the deal with Bunderkin? You play as Beedee the Bunderdragon (yes, really), who's desperate to attend the Ocular Eclipse festival—a once-in-a-lifetime event. But there's a problem: a villain is plotting to freeze the eclipse, and Beedee gets trapped in a three-day time loop. Luckily, he discovers a mysterious device that sends him back in time, giving him the chance to relive those three days and stop the chaos.

Studio Zubio says the game is inspired by stealth classics like Metal Gear Solid and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, as well as Majora's Mask. Expect puzzles, stealth mechanics, and plenty of secrets to uncover.

There's no release date yet, but the Steam page is live, so you can wishlist it if you're curious. The timing is interesting, too, considering The Blood of Dawnwalker's controversial time limit—which was so divisive that its biggest mod reworks it entirely, and even Baldur's Gate 3 publishing director Michael "Cromwelp" Douse weighed in to defend it.

But hey, a little FOMO can be fun, right? Studio Zubio seems to be cooking up something special. Fingers crossed we get a launch window soon so we can relive our own Majora's Mask days.

What do you think? Are you ready for another time-loop adventure, or does the pressure stress you out? Let us know in the comments!
