Ready to head back into the Playtime Co. factory — this time with friends watching your back?
Escape from Playtime, the co-op survival horror extraction spinoff set in the Poppy Playtime universe, finally has a release date. It's hitting Steam Early Access on October 21.
The game was first announced at Gamescom last month, and now we know exactly when we can get our hands on it. If you've been following the Poppy Playtime episodic horror series, you already know the vibe: creepy toys, tense corridors, and plenty of things that want to ruin your day.
But this one shakes up the formula. Instead of a solo narrative-driven scare fest, Escape from Playtime goes the co-op survival horror extraction route. Think squadding up, diving into a hostile environment, grabbing what you can, and trying to make it out alive. That's a big shift for the franchise, and it's one a lot of players have been curious about since the reveal.
Launching into Early Access means the game will arrive in a work-in-progress state, with the developers planning to build on it over time based on player feedback. That's pretty standard for the extraction genre, which thrives on community input and constant iteration. So expect the October 21 version to be a starting point rather than the finished product.
For Poppy Playtime fans, this is an interesting expansion of the universe. The main episodic games have built a dedicated following with their mix of horror, puzzles, and lore, and a multiplayer spinoff could pull in a whole new crowd — especially players who love the social tension of extraction shooters but want something with a spookier coat of paint.
We don't have details yet on pricing, platforms beyond Steam, or exactly what content will be included at launch. But the date is locked: October 21. If you're a fan of co-op horror or you've been waiting for a reason to return to the Playtime Co. nightmare with friends, mark your calendar.
