Beast of Reincarnation's Final Update Lands October 19

Game Freak is wrapping up support for Beast of Reincarnation, with one last update targeting October 19. Here's what's in it and what it means for you.

Beast of Reincarnation's Final Update Lands October 19

Did you stick with Beast of Reincarnation after its rocky August launch? If so, you've got one more patch to look forward to — and then that's it.

Game Freak has announced that its action RPG will no longer receive any updates, with the final one targeting October 19. The studio shared the news directly, confirming that the high-frequency update cycle it's run since release is coming to a close with this last drop.

It's been a bit of a bumpy road. Beast of Reincarnation landed in August to a mixed reception from players and some critics, and Game Freak has been patching away ever since to smooth out the experience. That effort has clearly paid off for plenty of people — our own first go-around found plenty to like, earning it an 8.

The most recent update, v.1.1.0.1, was a meaty one. It added new progression options, including the ability to skip the next three zones after the Great Wall Terraces Zone to "hasten" to the Capital. That shortcut is aimed at New Game+ players who want to blast through the story faster — just keep in mind you won't earn Achievements or Trophies during a regular playthrough if you use it.

There's more in that patch too: a field-of-view setting, the option to hide the "Skip" prompt during cutscenes, and various improvements to cutscene pacing and "staging timing." Game Freak also squashed issues like soft locks that could happen when quickly skipping specific events. On the performance side, it distributed the processing load from generating effects and "adjusted" collision boundaries and submersion detection depth across all areas.

So what does the end of updates actually mean for you? If you're mid-playthrough, the October 19 patch should be the last thing you need to download before the game settles into its final state. If you've been holding off on a New Game+ run, this is your cue to jump back in — the zone-skip option is right there waiting.

Beast of Reincarnation is available now on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Whether you're a day-one defender or a curious newcomer, the game's final form is just about locked in.

Will you be jumping back in for one last run, or are you done with it for good? What do you think of Game Freak calling it quits on updates?
