What would you actually do with a monitor that refreshes 720 times a second? That's the pitch behind the ROG Ace Esports OLED series, which ASUS first showed off at Gamescom 2026 and has now formally announced in Taiwan. Two models are on the table, and both are aimed squarely at people who play games for a living.
The lineup is the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace and the Swift OLED XG259QWPG Ace. In Taiwan they're priced at NT$37,900 and NT$26,900 respectively. Availability is expected in the fourth quarter, though ASUS hasn't locked down an exact release date yet.
Both screens share the same core hardware: LG's 24.5-inch tandem WOLED panel, 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 720Hz refresh rate, 0.02-second GtG response time, 1,700 nits of peak brightness and 99.5% DCI-P3 color coverage. That's a serious amount of speed packed into a 1080p panel.
So what separates them? The higher-end PG259QWS Ace gets DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 and a translucent back panel that shows off the internals, while the XG259QWPG Ace steps down to DisplayPort 1.4 and swaps in a cleaner, opaque back.
ASUS also leaned hard into the esports angle when designing the chassis. Both monitors sit on an ultra-low flat base, and the base, the pillar and the screen end all carry printed measurement marks. The front-facing proximity sensor now adds position measurement as well, so a player can log their monitor's tilt angle and rebuild that exact setup quickly once they reach a tournament stage.
There are display-side firsts too. According to ASUS, this is the first time a professional-grade monitor has offered 6-axis color adjustment, letting players fine-tune color to suit different games' art styles. The OSD menu also ships with dedicated preset profiles for CS2, VALORANT and PUBG.
If you're wondering whether 720Hz is actually worth paying for, that's the question this lineup is really asking. The PG259QWS Ace's DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 connection and see-through styling put it at the top of the stack, while the XG259QWPG Ace keeps the same panel and trims the extras to bring the price down.
Both are slated for the fourth quarter, so there's still time to think it over. Would you drop NT$37,900 on a 720Hz OLED, or is the XG259QWPG Ace the smarter buy? Tell us which one you'd pick.
