Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Map Changes Spotted

Nintendo's official map for the Ocarina of Time remake hints at a bigger Ice Cavern and redesigned Hyrule, suggesting this is more than a simple visual upgrade.

The Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is looking like way more than a fresh coat of paint. According to the official map Nintendo has released, Hyrule itself seems to have gotten some serious remodeling ahead of the game's November 5 launch.

The biggest talking point right now is the Ice Cavern. In the original Ocarina of Time, this was a pretty small side dungeon where Link grabs the Iron Boots and moves on. It was nowhere near the scale of places like the Forest Temple or Water Temple.

But on the remake's map, the Ice Cavern's footprint looks noticeably larger. That's got fans wondering if Nintendo is turning it into a full-blown dungeon instead of a quick detour. Players have pointed out that it "looks clearly expanded," and the extra space could mean more rooms, more puzzles, and more to explore.

It's not just the Ice Cavern, either. Sharp-eyed fans have spotted changes around Hyrule Castle Town, Kakariko Village, Zora's River, Death Mountain, and Gerudo Valley. Some of these spots appear to have new buildings or extra areas to poke around in.

These map tweaks line up with what earlier trailers hinted at: Nintendo isn't just recreating the original scene by scene. It's redesigning Hyrule to some degree. That said, we still don't know exactly how big those changes are.
