Imagine snagging God of War 3 Remastered for less than four cents. That's exactly what happened on the PlayStation Store in Mexico and Honduras recently, thanks to a massive pricing glitch that slashed prices by up to 98%. Naturally, players went wild.
The games affected included God of War 3 Remastered, MediEvil, Knack 2, and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. The deal was so absurd that God of War 3 Remastered was going for just 9.99 Mexican pesos—roughly 3.6 Chinese yuan, or about half a US cent. Yeah, you read that right.
Why did this happen? Some speculate it was a regional pricing error, possibly showing US dollar prices as Mexican pesos. But Sony hasn't confirmed anything, so we're still in the dark about the exact cause.
On October 8, Sony yanked the discounts from the store. Now, not only are those crazy low prices gone, but in some regions, you can't even buy the games at full price at the moment.
Interestingly, plenty of players managed to complete their purchases during the glitch, and the games are now sitting in their digital libraries. But with the deals revoked, some are worried: will Sony later revoke the licenses for those games? It's a valid concern, though no official word yet.
We've seen pricing errors before, but this one was particularly generous. If you missed out, don't feel too bad—it's not every day Sony practically gives away its classics.
What do you think? Should Sony honor those purchases, or is it fair game to revoke them? Let us know in the comments.
