Ever wondered just how deep GTA 6's world goes beyond the streets? Rockstar has an answer: hundreds of little interiors you can walk into and explore. That's right—prepare to snoop around gas stations, diners, and who-knows-what-else.
The news comes from a Bloomberg interview with Rockstar leads, including Jennifer Kolbe, Aaron Garbut, Phil Hooker, and Rob Nelson. They told Jason Schreier that the game features "hundreds" of these hand-crafted interiors. Garbut previously teased the insane attention to detail—"Who's sitting where, what they're drinking, the marks that are left on the table." So every room feels lived-in, not just a copy-paste job.
One example Schreier shared: you can slip into a gas station undetected, grab some cash, and get out without raising alarms. It's that kind of freedom and immersion that makes the world feel real. And with the map reportedly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2's, there's plenty of ground to cover—inside and out.
Speaking of RDR2, Schreier noted that GTA 6's story feels "more inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2 than Grand Theft Auto 5." What does that mean? "This is a story about two people who actually enjoy spending time together," he said. He contrasted the first hour with GTA 5's, calling its "sour nihilism" something that got "tiring fast." So expect a different vibe this time—more heart, less cynicism.
Of course, your mileage may vary. The game still has plenty of room to dip into darker territory later on. And depending on how you interact with Lucia and Jason, you can influence their overall direction, which impacts the story. How exactly? We'll have to wait and see.
With GTA 6 about a month out from launch on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, the hype is real. The RDR2 inspiration isn't just in storytelling—the world's complexity takes cues from Rockstar's last title too. If you loved the immersive details of Red Dead, you're in for a treat.
