Ben Affleck Gets Roasted by 12-Year-Olds in Fortnite, Inspired His New Movie

Ever been absolutely destroyed in Fortnite by a 12-year-old who then calls you trash? You're not alone—Ben Affleck feels your pain.

On the New Heights podcast, the actor revealed he plays shooters like Fortnite and sometimes ends up arguing with kids in voice chat. "I always play games," he said. "I play first person shooter games, so I think I'm good, and then 12-year-olds just f**k you up. I try to come out and I'm like, 'Here I come.' I get killed right away, and then they taunt you, like, 'You suck. F**k you!' I end up getting in arguments. 'F**k you! I don't suck! I'm a grown man!'"

But his gaming sessions aren't just about getting humbled. Affleck also drew inspiration from Fortnite for his new Netflix thriller, Animals. The film features a character wearing a fuzzy bunny mask, and Affleck explained that his son's obsession with Fortnite skins sparked the idea. "I thought these costumes are so kind of random and unusual, that's what I based the costumes on," he said. "I thought he'd be getting them off games."

He noted that his son kept calling the skins "tough," which left Affleck scratching his head. "I didn't quite understand what was 'tough' about a character wearing a bunny mask," he joked. But that random, unusual aesthetic ended up shaping the film's look.

Affleck's gaming habit isn't limited to Fortnite. He also plays sports titles like Madden and 2K, and he's been vocal about his love for Valorant. In fact, he's attended multiple Valorant events with his son and even revealed he mains KAY/0. Last year, he joined the esports team Sentinels for a watch party, where he talked about his experience with the game on stream.

So next time you get teabagged by a squeaker in Fortnite, just remember: even Batman gets told he sucks. At least Affleck can take solace in the fact that his gaming failures inspired a Netflix movie.

What do you think—would you want to squad up with Affleck, or would you rather take your chances with the 12-year-olds?
