GTA 6 Map Is Officially Twice the Size of GTA 5

Rockstar confirms GTA 6's map is the biggest it has ever built "by some degree" — roughly twice the size of GTA 5 — and it comes with hurricanes and tropical storms.

Remember when GTA 5's Los Santos felt impossibly huge? Well, get ready to feel very small again. Rockstar has officially confirmed that GTA 6's map is twice as large as GTA 5's — and it's the biggest map the studio has ever created "by some degree."

Let that sink in for a second. GTA 5's map already gave us a sprawling city, mountains, desert, and an entire ocean floor to poke around in. Doubling that is a serious flex, and it means you'll have plenty of room to get lost, cause chaos, and probably never finish exploring everything.

But size isn't the only thing Rockstar is showing off. The game also features hurricanes and tropical storms, which lines up perfectly with the Vice City-inspired, Florida-flavored setting. Instead of just sunny skies and neon nights, you'll apparently have to deal with some genuinely nasty weather rolling through.

That's a big deal for how the world feels. Dynamic storms could change how you drive, fly, or just wander around, adding a layer of unpredictability that GTA 5 never really had. Imagine cruising down the coast and watching a hurricane roll in — that's a whole different vibe.

Of course, a bigger map and wild weather also raise plenty of questions. How packed will all that space actually be? Will every corner feel alive, or will some areas feel empty? Rockstar hasn't spelled that out yet, so we'll have to wait and see how it all comes together.

What's clear is that Rockstar is swinging for something massive here. Doubling the map and throwing extreme weather into the mix suggests GTA 6 isn't just a bigger GTA 5 — it's aiming to feel like a whole new kind of playground.

So, does a map twice the size of GTA 5 sound exciting or just exhausting to you? And are you ready to outrun a hurricane in Vice City? Let us know what you think.
