Summer Blue Brings Hand-Drawn Romance to Steam

Ready for a summer romance that fits in your Steam library? WorkNite Games has just opened the Steam page for its new dating sim Summer Blue, and it looks like a sun-soaked getaway with a mysterious twist.

In Summer Blue, you play as someone who ends up on a slowly fading island after an unexpected accident. You're there for a working holiday, taking on jobs and settling into island life. Along the way, you meet four heroines, each with her own personality and secrets. As you spend time with them, you also start to uncover why the ocean that once shone bright blue has lost its color.

The game is built around dating sim mechanics. You'll chat with the girls, cook meals, and go on dates to get closer to them. Each of the four heroines is tied to a different part of the island: the guesthouse, the bar, the dive shop, and the island itself. As the story progresses, you'll learn more about who they really are and experience four distinct routes.

There's also a management side to the gameplay. You can earn money by cleaning the guesthouse, mixing drinks at the bar, and handling reception duties. You're free to plan your daily schedule, so you can balance work and leisure however you like. The goal is to build strong bonds with the girl you're interested in while enjoying the laid-back island atmosphere.

According to the developer, Summer Blue features over 160,000 words of script and four complete heroine routes. Each route explores different character backgrounds and story developments, painting a unique summer romance. The visuals are also a standout: the game uses fully hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation for character movements and interactions, giving it the feel of watching an animated show.

The Steam page for Summer Blue is live now, but the release date hasn't been announced yet. If you're intrigued, you can add it to your wishlist to keep an eye on it.

What do you think? Are you ready to spend your summer on this island? Will you be picking this up when it launches?
