Ever wished your mahjong skills could unlock something a little more... rewarding? Steam's latest release might be exactly what you're looking for.
Girls X Love X Mahjong launched today on Steam, developed by the 16-Tile Mahjong Enthusiasts Club and published by Playmeow. It's a single-player supernatural mahjong game where winning hands and a mysterious mahjong guidebook help you romance beautiful women.
The story kicks off with your character drowning in debt after a work mistake. Luckily, your boss lady doesn't hold a grudge—she teams up with you to rebuild a mahjong studio from scratch. Your job? Learn mahjong skills, recruit gorgeous players to boost popularity, and work with accomplices to win over targets like married women and flight attendants.
The mahjong itself uses Taiwanese 16-tile rules, and there are plenty of assist systems to keep things smooth. During the tenpai phase, the game tells you which tile to discard for the most tai or the most winning tiles, and there's even an auto-play option if you want the computer to handle a hand.
Money you earn goes toward learning skills from the Mahjong Guidebook. These include favorable starting hands, tile swapping, seeing through opponents' hands, and even guaranteed self-draw wins. You can also train female characters to act as your accomplices at the table, helping you win over your target.
There are six romanceable characters: the boss lady, a married woman, a band vocalist, a game streamer, a cheerleader, and a flight attendant. The game includes 18 fully animated adult scenes, and all female characters have full voice acting. Once you progress far enough, a free mode opens up where you can pick any character and set your own table rules for endless mahjong battles.
Girls X Love X Mahjong is available now on Steam at NT$178, with a 10% launch discount running until October 31. Will you be picking this up?
