Ubisoft Says Watch Dogs Could Be Remade Someday

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot calls Watch Dogs an important brand for the future and hints at a potential remake of the original game.

Ubisoft Says Watch Dogs Could Be Remade Someday

Ever wonder what happened to Watch Dogs? It's been six years since the last game, but Ubisoft hasn't forgotten about the hacking series. In fact, the company says it's still an important brand for the future.

During Ubisoft's annual meeting, CEO Yves Guillemot was asked why Watch Dogs isn't listed under any of the company's new "creative houses" – internal divisions that focus on specific games. His answer? A potential remake of the original Watch Dogs might be in the cards. "It's not expected to [be] put… in a creative house for the moment, before it's potentially remade," Guillemot said via a translator, according to a report from Game File.

So, what does that mean for fans? Well, it sounds like Watch Dogs is lying dormant right now. There's no new game on the horizon – not even Watch Dogs 4, as far as we know. But the door is definitely open for a return, especially if a remake happens first.

And let's not forget about the live-action movie. That project started filming back in 2024, though news has been pretty quiet since. So there's still a chance we'll see the series on the big screen before we get another game.

For now, all we can do is wait and see what Ubisoft decides. In the meantime, you could always replay the first few Watch Dogs games – or, if you're like me, enjoy the first two and pretend Legion doesn't exist. Either way, it's clear the franchise isn't completely dead.

What do you think? Would you play a Watch Dogs remake, or are you holding out for a proper sequel? Let us know in the comments.
