Fight Night Returns: EA Confirms Beloved Boxing Franchise Is Back

Remember the last time you played a Fight Night game? If you've been waiting for a new one, EA just delivered the news you've been hoping for. The publisher has confirmed that Fight Night is coming back.

EA created social media accounts for the long-dormant boxing franchise, and the first post was exactly what fans wanted to hear. The full message reads: "To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back." It was accompanied by an image of a pair of boxing gloves hanging over a boxing ring, with the caption "The fight is never over."

That's all we know for now. There are no additional details, such as who's developing the project, whether it's a new game or a remaster/remake, or a release window. The original and most recent two Fight Night games were built by EA Canada in Vancouver, while Fight Night Round 2 and Round 3 were developed by the now-shuttered EA Chicago. A remaster seems unlikely given the licensing involved, so odds are it's a new entry.

We also don't know if it's targeting the current generation of consoles. But regardless, the return of Fight Night should be welcome news to a lot of gamers.

While Fight Night has been dormant, EA has shifted its resources to the UFC game franchise. The most recent entry, UFC 6, was released earlier this year and our reviewer thought it was great.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see Fight Night make a comeback? Let us know in the comments!
