GTA 6 Leak Fallout: Take-Two Subpoenas Microsoft and Discord

Remember that massive GTA 6 leak that flooded the internet this week? Well, Rockstar's parent company Take-Two isn't taking it lying down. They've officially subpoenaed both Microsoft and Discord to dig up the identities of the culprits behind the leaked gameplay clips.

The subpoena, filed in the South District Court of New York, aims to "obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers" involved in sharing the copyrighted GTA 6 content. This move pretty much confirms that the leaked footage was the real deal, not some elaborate fan-made hoax. The leaker, known as CyberLeek, was also oddly enough advertising crypto alongside the gameplay.

CyberLeek is believed to have gotten their hands on a playable build of GTA 6, and here's a fun detail: one of the leaked clips shows the word "LEEK" spelled out in bullet holes on a wall. Talk about a calling card.

Take-Two isn't wasting any time. They've given Microsoft until September 4 to hand over info related to the leaker, including Discord user details from specific servers. We're talking account IDs, emails, IP addresses, phone numbers, and linked accounts like Xbox and Google profiles. It's a full-on digital dragnet.

The timing is especially spicy because the leaks hit just before Rockstar's official "Extended Look" at GTA 6, which is set to air exclusively on Netflix on August 27. We're all expecting a ton of concrete details to drop after years of speculation, so this leak is a major curveball.

We've reached out to Rockstar for comment, but they're staying tight-lipped for now. Meanwhile, GTA 6 is still slated to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. Will this legal action slow down the hype train? Probably not, but it's interesting to see Take-Two playing hardball.
