Valheim Seasons Mod Turns Meadows Into a Winter Wonderland

A new Valheim mod called Seasons adds spring, summer, fall, and winter to every biome, with seasonal weather, lighting, trader wares, and player stat changes.

Valheim Seasons Mod Turns Meadows Into a Winter Wonderland

Ever wished your Valheim Meadows could go from lush green to snow-covered without trekking to the Mountains? You're not alone. A new mod called Seasons is doing exactly that, and it's quickly becoming a favorite in the community.

Seasons comes from modder Shudnal (spotted via Hexium) and it does what the name promises: it adds four distinct times of the year to all of Valheim's typically static biomes. Spring keeps the Meadows lush and green as usual, then summer heat slowly turns patches of grass yellow. Fall brings orange hues and darker evenings, before winter blankets treetops in snow. It's the kind of scenery that makes you want to build a Christmas card cabin.

For anyone who's spent hours in vanilla Valheim, that winter Meadows fantasy has been out of reach. Snow only shows up in the Mountains and Deep North, usually locked behind mid or endgame progression. And let's be honest, building in the Mountains means dealing with rocky terrain and Gammeltrolls who don't care about your cabin. They'll happily shotgun-blast it with trees, and probably hit you with the remains too.

But Seasons is more than a pretty coat of paint. The mod includes biome events balanced around each season's weather, plus seasonal lighting changes. Summer nights are the brightest, winter nights the darkest. Traders cycle their wares over time to reflect seasonal resource scarcity. Seasons even affect your player stats, giving you extra fire resistance in winter and more stamina in summer.

Want to tweak things? Seasons is customizable. You can adjust season length, weather types, and more through add-ons like the BepInEx Configuration Manager. That means you can set the pace that suits your playstyle, whether you want long cozy winters or quick seasonal rotations.

The timing makes sense. Valheim's 1.0 update isn't even a month old yet, but the modding scene is already packed with impressive fan-made creations for custom worlds. Quality-of-life fixes were the early favorites, but expansive mods like Seasons are now stealing the spotlight.

So if you've been waiting for a reason to return to the Meadows, this might be it. Will you be building your next base in a snow-covered meadow, or are you holding out for spring?
