Lies of P Sequel Tease: Neowiz Files 'Wonders of O' Trademark

Remember those ruby slippers at the end of Lies of P? They might be more than just a clever Easter egg. Developer Neowiz has just filed a trademark for "Wonders of O" with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, and it's looking like the sequel is heading straight to Oz.

The listing, spotted via ThePhraseMaker, covers "interactive multimedia software for playing games" – but that's all we've got to go on for now. No release date, no platforms, no gameplay details. Just a name that pretty much confirms what that mid-credits tease was hinting at. If you stuck around after the credits, you saw a pair of ruby-red shoes, a classic Wizard of Oz nod that had fans speculating for years.

So what does this mean for the sequel? L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz entered the public domain back in 1956, which gives Neowiz free rein to twist the story however they want. And there's plenty to work with: flying monkeys, the Tin Man, the Wicked Witch of the East, the manipulative Wizard himself. Imagine a souls-like take on those characters – it's a match made in dark fantasy heaven.

Lies of P first launched in 2023 and became a big hit, blending Pinocchio with brutal combat and a haunting world. Neowiz kept the momentum going with the Overture expansion in 2025, a prequel that explored the events leading up to the Puppet Frenzy massacre and the fall of Krat. The game also made its way to Switch 2 earlier this year, so the franchise is clearly still on the studio's mind.

We've known a sequel was in development for a while now. Neowiz has been open about its approach, and in January, the developer mentioned it was looking into technology-based solutions, like AI, to "automate routine operational tasks" during development. Co-CEO Sean Kim said, "By processing data faster, our teams will arrive at better, more informed strategic decisions on how best to support our developers and engage with our community." It's a controversial topic in the West, but in South Korea, AI is actively used and seen as an essential tool.

For now, the trademark is all we have to go on, but it's a pretty strong signal. The Wizard of Oz tease from Lies of P's ending was no accident, and "Wonders of O" fits perfectly with the game's macabre reimagining of classic tales. If you loved the twisted Pinocchio vibe, just imagine what Neowiz could do with the Yellow Brick Road.
