Ready to return to Azeroth, but with a twist? World of Warcraft Forever is Blizzard's next big thing for WoW Classic fans, and it's bringing all-new content to the original two continents. Revealed at BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony, WoW Forever is designed to be the "forever" game that Classic enthusiasts have been craving. Instead of moving on to later expansions, it keeps the focus squarely on Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
So, what's actually new? A ton. Blizzard says there will be up to 1,000 new quests, revamped zones, and three entirely new zones that fill in areas that were on the vanilla map but never accessible. You'll also get nine new dungeons, two raids, and an additional PvP battleground. And yes, there's a new playable race: the Skyborne elves. One of the new zones will serve as their starting area.
But that's not all. Classes are getting revamped with new talents and skills, and you'll see new class and race combinations. There's also an option to toggle between HD visuals and old-school graphics, so you can play with the look you love. Blizzard plans to keep updating WoW Forever with new content, but the level cap will stay at 60. Unlike modern WoW, the endgame isn't the focus here—many new dungeons and quests are designed for characters under level 60.
That fits with Blizzard's core principles for WoW Forever: it's about the journey, not the destination; the world itself is a character; and social aspects are key. For those who want to keep experiencing the original Azeroth, the normal version of WoW Classic will still be playable. So you'll have both options.
When can you jump in? A playable beta goes live on September 17, and the full version of WoW Forever launches on November 4. That's just around the corner, so start planning your return to Azeroth. Will you be rolling a Skyborne elf? What new zone are you most excited to explore? Let us know in the comments!
