Injustice 3 Rumors Heat Up: Batwoman May Return from the Dead

Ever wondered what NetherRealm Studios has been cooking up since Mortal Kombat 1? If the latest rumor is anything to go by, it might be Injustice 3 — and it could bring back a character who met a pretty brutal end.

A stuntworker's resume has seemingly leaked the news, listing "Injustice 3" after performing motion capture sessions for two characters: Supergirl and Batwoman. That's according to MP1st, who spotted the listing. Supergirl makes perfect sense — she played a huge role in stopping Brainiac's invasion in Injustice 2. But Batwoman? That's where things get interesting.

In the Injustice comic books, which tie directly into the games' narrative, Batwoman — Katherine "Kate" Kane — fought alongside Batman against Superman's regime. In the fifth year of the rebellion, she sacrificed herself to manually activate a dimensional transporter, bringing the DC Universe's Justice League heroes to the darker dimension. Regime Superman apparently incinerated her with his heat vision at the last moment. So yeah, she died. But as any comic fan knows, death is rarely permanent.

So why would Batwoman show up in Injustice 3? Maybe it's a flashback, maybe it's an alternate version, or maybe NetherRealm is just ignoring the comics. Either way, it's a fun bit of speculation for fans.

It's been a while since we last visited the Injustice universe. The last game dropped back in 2017. Since then, NetherRealm wrapped up the mainline Mortal Kombat saga with Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, then soft-rebooted things with Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023. That game got mostly lukewarm reviews, and post-launch support ended in 2025 after the Khaos Reigns expansion. At the time, NetherRealm said it needed to "shift focus" to its next game.

Could that next game be Injustice 3? The studio might also have new owners soon if Paramount's plan to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery goes through. That could shake things up, but for now, we're just connecting the dots.

Of course, this is all still rumor until NetherRealm makes it official. But with Mortal Kombat 1 support wrapped up and a stuntworker's resume out in the wild, it's hard not to get excited.
