Remember when Turtle Beach first slapped a screen on an Xbox controller? The Stealth Ultra was a trailblazer back in early 2024, but it quickly got lost in a sea of copycats. Now, Turtle Beach is back with the Stealth Ultra 2, and it's packing some serious upgrades.
The new controller is available now on Turtle Beach's website and retailers like Amazon and Very in the UK. It retains the $199.99 / £179.99 price tag of the original, which is a relief given the improvements. The screen is bigger, and the gimmicky social features are gone—thank goodness. The thumbsticks are now TMR with swappable gate shapes via integrated switches, a first for Xbox. The D-pad has more shape, the grips are longer and slimmer for comfort, and the back buttons are now vertical instead of horizontal.
You still get a charging stand and carry case, and there are three-way trigger stop switches—more generous than the usual one or two levels. The menu system on the larger touchscreen seems more refined, with options for button mapping, audio levels, connection, and power settings, plus screen customization and home widgets. Turtle Beach hasn't released a trailer yet, so we're eager to see it in action.
Competitive players will love the 8,000Hz polling rate in wired mode on PC, which rivals top-tier PC controllers. Battery life is quoted at 34 hours on Eco mode (no vibration or RGB) and 10 hours on Full Power with all features on. There's also a Balanced mode. It's clear Turtle Beach has learned from its PDP acquisition, especially with the swappable gates reminiscent of the Victrix Pro BFG.
At $199.99, the Stealth Ultra 2 sits below the $250 SteelSeries Aeon Pro, which didn't quite justify its price. Turtle Beach seems to have refined the formula without inflating the cost. Will you be picking up the Stealth Ultra 2? Let us know in the comments!
