GTA 6's $400 Collector's Edition Doesn't Include the Game

Would you pay $400 for a box of GTA 6 goodies that doesn't even include GTA 6? Rockstar Games just confirmed exactly that, and the internet is already losing its mind.

The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection is a $400 collector's edition inspired by Leonida's hit TV show, Macca the Gator. It's available to preorder now and launches on November 19, the same day as GTA 6. But here's the kicker: the game itself is not included.

So what does $400 actually get you? A six-inch figure of Macca the Gator with a stash compartment, matte black GTA 6 Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses, and a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback hat with Vice City Leonida embellishments. There's also a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror, a Vice City swizzle spoon, a Vice City razor blade keychain, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, and a Leonida Keys enamel pin set in a custom metal tin. Rounding it out are premium stickers in a stash bag and a double-sided souvenir poster showcasing the full Leonida landscape.

It's a pretty solid haul of swag, but is it worth $400? Immediate reactions online have been very critical of the price Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive are charging. Still, as people online have pointed out, this collector's edition will likely sell out fast, and eBay listings are already popping up. Scalpers pounced on the GTA 6 DualSense controllers when they were first announced, and those are currently selling at a premium on eBay.

It's also not too surprising to see a collector's edition without the game. Several big titles have opted to sell standalone merchandise bundles, including Marathon, Diablo 4, and Borderlands 4. In GTA 6's case, Take-Two won't have to risk preorder cancellations. And according to a third-party research company, GTA 6 has already generated over $400 million in revenue from preorders alone.
