Ever wondered if you could beat Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave while completely ignoring its main characters? YouTuber LagSpike776 did exactly that, and it sounds like a nightmare.
In Fortune's Weave, you create your own character in an apocalyptic present and travel back in time to recruit the four Flame Lords: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. Each has a unique, hours-long route. Once recruited, you bring them to the present to face the true threat. The game repeatedly warns against skipping them, but LagSpike776 ignored every warning.
"Just beat Fortune's Weave with no Flame Lords," they tweeted. "Yes, you heard that right… Was it fun? F*** no." An hour-long video details the whole ordeal, including tips on cheesing the end-game fights.
Instead of the Flame Lords, their roster relied on Hong Hua, Troy, and Eshmel. The run took around 40 hours on Hard/Classic mode, meaning permadeath was on, battles were tougher, and turn rewinds were restricted. The game had only been out for about 10 days at that point.
For a first playthrough, skipping the obelisks and missing the intersecting stories of the four lords is not recommended. Seeing how their paths zig and zag before converging is one of the most satisfying parts of the game. But for a second-playthrough challenge, leaving them behind could be a fun twist.
Players have already found a way to recruit characters faster with a chapter reset cheese, so there's plenty of experimentation happening. Whether you're a speedrunner or just curious, this no-Flame-Lord run proves Fortune's Weave can be broken in wild ways.
