Ever wanted to stroll into Dalaran as a Horde player without getting chased by guards? Well, in the World of Warcraft: Forever Beta, that's exactly what's happening – and it's causing quite the stir.
As the beta enters its fourth week, Blizzard has introduced the City of Dalaran dungeon, along with a quest called "Heart of Disruption." Complete that, and you'll snag the Dalaran Sewer Key, which grants you entry into the city. From there, a new quest titled "Shrewd Negotiations" tasks you with bringing dungeon loot into Dalaran. And here's the kicker: whether you're Alliance or Horde, you'll be safe inside once you've done the deed.
But wait – Dalaran belongs to the Alliance, right? That's the lore, anyway. So why are Horde players suddenly able to waltz in? According to Wowhead, the guards that should be hostile will act neutral toward you if you're Horde, offering safe passage after you defeat the Archmage in the City of Dalaran. You can even freely explore the city, just like an Alliance player. Though you won't be able to access every NPC's services, you can still stock up on supplies. And yes, you can fish for coins in the Dalaran fountain – because why not?
Not everyone is thrilled about this. Over on Reddit, players are scratching their heads, with some calling it "probably just a bug." Others argue that since it's tied to a quest, it "doesn't sound like a bug." Either way, it's sparked yet another lore debate in the WoW: Forever community.
And it's not the first time. The beta has already seen controversy over the new Skyborne race – from its $30 price tag to its lore implications – and Blizzard's recent decision to change the elves to better fit the rest of the MMO. It seems like every week brings a new hot topic.
Dealing with such an old and beloved game is never easy, but Blizzard is clearly aware of how passionate fans are about the 2004 classic. Meanwhile, the studio is also "simplifying" PvP in WoW: Forever, though it's adding a controversial weekly grind that has MMO fans begging "please don't do the weeklies thing."
So, what do you think? Is the Horde's Dalaran access a clever quest reward or just a bug that slipped through? Will you be picking up that Sewer Key and exploring the city yourself? Let us know in the comments!
