Ever dreamed of stepping into a real-life Pokémon world without hopping on a plane to Japan? Well, Londoners (and anyone up for a trip) might just get their wish. The Pokémon Company International has announced that the first permanent Pokémon store outside Asia will be opening in London, with doors expected to swing open in 2029.

If that sounds familiar, you're not imagining things. Back in 2019, London got a taste of the action with a Pokémon Center London pop-up at Westfield London in Shepherd's Bush. It ran from October 18 to November 15, timed nicely around the launch of Pokémon Sword and Shield. But once it packed up, that was it — no permanent spot ever followed. Until now, apparently.

Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, shared some thoughts on the big news: "We are always exploring new opportunities to help us create unique and memorable experiences for our fans. This new London store will give visitors the chance to step into the world of Pokémon in person, whether they're discovering the brand for the first time or have been a Trainer for years. We hope this will become a place where everyone can come together, feel a sense of community, and enjoy the magic of Pokémon in new ways."

One thing that's still up in the air? Whether the London location will operate at the scale of a full Pokémon Center or a smaller Pokémon Store. That detail hasn't been confirmed yet, so we'll be keeping an eye on it as more information rolls out.

For fans in Europe, this is a pretty big deal. Pokémon Centers have long been a Japan-exclusive pilgrimage for collectors and enthusiasts, and the idea of a permanent store on European soil means easier access to exclusive merch and that in-person Pokémon atmosphere without the long-haul flight.

It's a bit of a wait until 2029, sure — but good things come to those who wait, right? What do you think the London store should stock? Will you be planning a visit when it opens?
