Have you ever wondered what it takes to beat a Call of Duty campaign without dying once? One player just found out. A Reddit user named Lost-Equivalent2352 has completed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's YOLO mode, an ultra-hard difficulty that sends you right back to the start if you die. This mode unlocks after you finish the campaign on any difficulty, and it's the ultimate test of your COD skills.
So how did they do it? Lost-Equivalent2352 relied heavily on AI allies. "My technique was staying behind a wall for several minutes so that my dumb allies shoot at the enemies," they explained. They also used flashbangs and grenades to clean up remaining threats, keeping enemies from getting a one-shot kill. The successful run took around 20 hours.
One of the toughest missions was "Retreat," a nighttime level depicting the fall of Hajin and the tactical withdrawal of South Korean troops. With bullets flying everywhere and civilians running for cover, any friendly fire counts as a death—so grenades were off-limits. The Redditor called their success here "pure luck."
They also believe beating YOLO mode on a controller is impossible. You need to keep your distance, which demands the kind of recoil control and precision only a mouse can provide. Another brutal section was the double fight as Price against two former allies. Modern Warfare 4's new hand-to-hand combat system, while fun and John Wick-like, doesn't give much feedback when hits are coming, making parrying a bit of a spamfest.
It took three attempts and 40 hours total to finally secure a YOLO victory—all for a Calling Card. IGN's in-progress review gave the campaign a preliminary 8/10, saying it may not be among the very best COD campaigns but ends the saga on a high note.
What do you think? Would you ever attempt a YOLO run, or is that just too much stress? Let us know!
