Ever popped a Double XP token in Call of Duty, then had to step away to let the dog out or grab a snack, only to come back and find your bonus has evaporated? Yeah, we've all been there. Well, Activision just announced a fix that's going to make you very happy.
Starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Double XP tokens will only count down when you're actually in a match. No more ticking away while you're sitting in menus or searching for a lobby. That means you can take care of real life without wasting a single second of sweet, sweet double XP. It's a small change, but it's one that a lot of players have been begging for.
But that's not all. In a newly published 'The Road to Launch' video, several key developers at Infinity Ward sat down to discuss some of the hottest topics surrounding MW4. They touched on time-to-kill values, spawning algorithms, and UI issues, all of which were hotly debated during the game's multiple beta tests. It's clear the team is listening to feedback and trying to get things right before launch.
This is just the latest in a string of positive-sounding updates for MW4. Previously, we learned that players will be able to toggle off skins they don't want to see in Warzone. However, that toggle won't be supported for MW4 itself just yet, so don't expect to hide those wild skins in the main game.
Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. That release date is notable for a couple of reasons. First, it marks the first Call of Duty release on a Nintendo platform since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts. Second, it's the first game in the series since Ghosts to skip PS4 and Xbox One, meaning it's truly built for the current generation.
With all these player-friendly changes and the devs openly addressing community concerns, it feels like Infinity Ward and Activision are saying all the right things. But will it all come together at launch? We'll find out soon enough.
What do you think about the Double XP change? Will you be picking up Modern Warfare 4 on day one? Let us know in the comments!
