Remedy just pulled back the curtain on how Control Resonant will run on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and if you're a performance junkie, there's plenty to chew on.
The studio says the game was built around 60fps from day one, with feel and responsiveness treated as the core of the experience. On a base PS5, you're getting two options: a Performance mode targeting 1440p at 60fps, or a Quality mode targeting 2160p at 30fps.
PS5 Pro owners get a little more to play with, thanks to PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution). There are three modes here. Performance targets 2160p at 60fps. Quality targets 2160p at 30fps with ray tracing switched on. And then there's a Balance mode, which needs a 120Hz display, targeting 2160p at 40fps with ray tracing as well.
It's not just about pixels, either. The DualSense's adaptive triggers are being put to work for Dylan's supernatural abilities. Moves like Barrage and Volatile Anomaly each get their own distinct trigger resistance when you fire them off, so they should feel different in your hands. The audio team has also gone all-in on 3D audio, which should pair nicely with a compatible headset if you want to really sink into things.
As for how long you'll be busy? The main story runs roughly 25 to 35 hours, and completionists will find more challenges waiting beyond that. PS5 players can track their campaign progress through the Activities feature, and Game Help support is planned after launch.
The game takes place in Remedy's reimagined Manhattan, where you can fast travel between districts and hop back into the Dream Ditch, Dylan's inner space, whenever you want to upgrade, test builds, or craft artifacts.
Control Resonant is headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. With an IGN score of 8 already on the board, it's shaping up to be one worth clearing your schedule for.
So which mode are you picking on day one, 60fps or ray tracing? Let us know in the comments.
