Ever wondered what Ghost of Tsushima would look like as an anime? Well, you're getting one in 2028, and Crunchyroll just dropped some major details about who's making it.

The anime adaptation of Sony's samurai epic has confirmed its cast and crew, and there's some serious talent on board. Hayate Inc. announced that Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu will voice characters. If you played Ghost of Tsushima, you'll recognize Saco as the voice behind Tomoe, the master archer and pupil of Sensei Ishikawa. Fukumatsu, meanwhile, is known for playing the martial arts master Bomb in One-Punch Man. So yeah, the voice cast already has some solid credentials.

Behind the scenes, the crew is stacked. Takanobu Mizuno, who directed the Star Wars: Visions episode "The Duel," is taking the director's chair. The animation is being handled by Kamikaze Douga, the studio behind Batman: Ninja and several Star Wars: Visions shorts. For the story, Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) and Renji Oki (Azur Lane) are writing. Rounding things out, Keiji Inai is composing the music, Yoshikazu Iwanami is handling sound direction, and Gyousyou Suzuki is bringing their calligraphy skills to the project. That's a lot of talent for one anime.

If you're a fan of the games, you know Ghost of Tsushima first launched in 2020 for PS4 and later got a PS5 upgrade. Its sequel, Ghost of Yotei, came out in 2025 and received a "Complete Edition" upgrade that adds the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and bundles in the Legends multiplayer mode. The anime seems to be drawing from that rich samurai world, though exact story details are still under wraps.

Anime adaptations of video games are having a moment right now. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne are both getting anime treatment, and Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding is expanding with an anime film and a separate series heading to Disney+. So this Ghost of Tsushima anime is part of a bigger wave.
