Ever wondered what happens when Star Trek meets Magic: The Gathering? You're about to find out. The final MTG expansion of 2026 is Star Trek, and it's bringing a full set of Secret Lair drops along for the ride. Get ready for the Secret Lair X Star Trek Set Phasers To Superdrop, launching November 9 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.
There are six drops in total, each themed around the people, places, and tech of the Star Trek universe. Each drop costs $40 in foil or $30 in non-foil, while supplies last. We've got an exclusive look at five of the six drops, plus a bonus card for those who pick up multiple drops.
First up is Beam Me Up!, featuring four reversible cards themed around "blinking" permanents—removing them from the board and bringing them right back to reuse enters-the-battlefield effects. Eerie Interlude becomes "Beam Us Up," Momentary Blink stays as is, Essence Flux becomes "Materialize," and Conjurer's Closet becomes "The Transporter." One side shows characters in space, the other back on the starship in the same pose.
Next is KHAAAAAAAAN!, a six-card drop themed around Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Cards like Wrath of the Skies (as "Best Served Cold"), Commandeer, Illusionist's Gambit (as "Reliant's Betrayal"), Buried Alive, Genesis Wave, and Fracture highlight iconic scenes and moments from the 1982 film, including Ricardo Montalbán's legendary portrayal of Khan Noonien Singh.
Then there's Lower Decks!, featuring characters from the animated series in its signature cartoon style. Inti, Seneschal of the Sun becomes "Mariner, Breaching Protocol"; Kambal, Profiteering Mayor becomes "Boimler, Citing Protocol"; Silas Renn, Seeker Adept becomes "Rutherford, Rebuilding the Past"; Thrasios, Triton Hero becomes "Tendi, Exploring the Future"; and Weatherlight becomes "U.S.S. Cerritos, California-Class." Notably, this marks the Secret Lair debut for both Silas Renn and Thrasios, which first appeared in MTG in 2016.
The fourth drop, tlhIngan maH!, is all about the Klingons. Five reversible cards—Demand Answers, Relentless Assault, Seething Song, War's Toll, and Warstorm Surge—show the proud warrior race in action. One side is in English, the other in the iconic Klingon language.
Finally, New Worlds! focuses on the many planets Star Trek officers have visited, presented as five basic lands: two each of Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest, featuring artwork by longtime Magic artist Alayna Danner. And if you spend $200 or more on the superdrop, you'll get a bonus card: Return of the Wildspeaker as "Transporter Boondoggle!"
The sixth and final drop will be revealed later, according to the official blog post. The full Star Trek expansion launches November 13 in local game stores and big-box retailers, with prerelease events starting November 6. Will you be picking up any of these drops? Let us know in the comments!
