Kingdom Come Dev Wants GTA 6 to Make Games Pricier

Ever feel like $70 is the new normal for games? Well, get ready—one developer is hoping GTA 6 will push prices even higher.

Warhorse Studios co-founder Martin Klima recently said he hopes GTA 6 will "blaze a trail" in allowing game developers to charge more for their titles. That's right: the studio behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance wants Rockstar's next blockbuster to pave the way for premium pricing across the industry.

Klima's comments come as the cost of game development continues to skyrocket, with big-budget titles requiring hundreds of millions of dollars and years of work. For many studios, the current $60-$70 price point just isn't sustainable anymore.

But here's the catch: not every game can command a higher price. GTA 6 is expected to be a cultural event, one that could sell millions regardless of cost. If it launches at a higher price and still succeeds, it might give other publishers the confidence to follow suit.

For players, that could mean paying more for the games you love—or at least the biggest ones. But it also raises questions: will smaller or niche titles be able to justify a price hike? And will gamers accept it?

Warhorse knows a thing or two about passionate fanbases. Kingdom Come: Deliverance built a dedicated following despite its niche historical setting. If anyone understands the value of a premium experience, it's them.

Still, the gaming community is notoriously price-sensitive. Remember the backlash over $70 games this generation? Now imagine $80 or $90. It's a tough sell, even with a brand as powerful as GTA.

Only time will tell if Klima gets his wish. But one thing's for sure: the conversation around game pricing isn't going away anytime soon.

What do you think? Would you pay more for GTA 6? Let us know in the comments.
