Control Resonant PC Test: Can DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction Handle It?

Remedy's Control sequel goes all-in on path tracing, RTX Mega Geometry and DLSS 4.5 — we ran it on RTX 50-series cards to see how it holds up.

Remember Control? The 2019 supernatural shooter that blew our minds with its weird world and became one of the poster children for PC ray tracing. Seven years later, Remedy is finally back with the sequel, Control Resonant — and this time you're stepping into the shoes of Dylan Faden.

The setup is wild. With Federal Bureau of Control director Jesse Faden's lockdown failing, the paranatural chaos spills out of the Oldest House and floods into Manhattan. The Hiss, invasive mold, and other twisted supernatural threats start eating the city alive. Dylan has to fully unlock his own powers, track down his sister Jesse, and somehow stop the forces leaking out of the Oldest House before reality itself comes apart at the seams.

On the tech side, Remedy is once again using its in-house Northlight engine, and the graphics spec is just as aggressive as the first game was back in its day. Control Resonant builds on the original's ray tracing with full path tracing, plus support for NVIDIA RTX Mega Geometry and DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, along with new tricks like DLSS 4.5 dynamic multi-frame generation.

That combo makes a lot of sense for a game packed with complex geometry, supernatural visual effects, and large-scale city scenes. It also makes Control Resonant a pretty representative benchmark for the new generation of graphics cards. Before launch, we got our hands on the PC version early to put it through its paces.

Our test rig centered on RTX 50-series GPUs, and we pushed the game across different resolutions with everything cranked to max. The question on everyone's mind: can DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction actually carry the load when the settings are turned all the way up?

We'll be digging into the full performance numbers soon, so keep an eye out. Control Resonant is headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you're planning a GPU upgrade for this one, you're definitely not alone.

What are you most curious about — how path tracing looks in the flesh, or whether your current card can survive max settings? Drop your specs in the comments and let's compare notes.
