WoW: Forever Brings Back Make-A-Wish Quest

Ever wished a beloved quest from WoW's past could make a comeback? For one special Make-A-Wish quest, that wish is coming true in WoW: Forever.

WoW: Forever is a new version of Azeroth that goes back to the first year of the MMORPG's timeline, but with extra flourishes and contemporary design elements. Unlike WoW: Classic, which brings back old-school gameplay, Forever aims to blend nostalgia with modern touches. However, this means that content from later expansions, like The Burning Crusade, isn't normally included. But Blizzard is making an exception for a very special quest.

Almost 20 years ago, a quest called 'Kyle's Gone Missing' was added in The Burning Crusade. In it, you help Ahab Wheathoof find his dog. It's a simple, sweet task, but its origin makes it truly heartwarming. The quest was the result of a Make-A-Wish request from Ezra 'Ephoenix' Chatterton, who designed the questline and even voiced Ahab. His contribution has been a rite of passage for players ever since, keeping his memory alive in Azeroth.

Since The Burning Crusade isn't part of Forever, the quest wouldn't naturally appear. But the community has been vocal about wanting it included. On the official forums, a player asked for the mission on behalf of their partner who got beta access. Community manager Randy 'Kaivax' Jordan responded, "We're working on it. Stay tuned." That's right—Blizzard is going to anachronistically add the quest to Forever, and the area where it takes place, Mulgore, is already accessible in the game.

WoW: Forever is currently in a closed preview for community members, with a full public release on November 4. It's heartening to see so many rallying behind maintaining this commemoration. Even after 19 years, Chatterton's legacy lives on. May we all enjoy such a legacy.

In other WoW: Forever news, the devs say quest drops aren't changing, but they've added "a bit of under-the-hood functionality" to make them fairer. So while you won't see major changes to loot, the system should feel more balanced.
