Ready for a horror game that digs into your psyche? Saraab: Beyond the Veil is coming November 3 to PC via Steam and Itch.io, and it looks like a chilling ride.
Developed by solo creator Lubna Ahmed, Saraab is an Arabian folklore-inspired horror visual novel. You play as Elham, a schoolgirl whose brother is suddenly kidnapped. To rescue him, she must confront her own inner demons—literally. These demons have been externalized as monsters born from her psyche, and to overcome them, she'll need to unlock the powers of her bloodline and uncover the truth of who she really is.
"I'm incredibly excited to bring this story to players and share a world shaped by authentic cultural themes, folklore, and emotional experiences that are rarely explored in games," Ahmed said in a press statement. "I hope players everywhere can connect with the game's story and characters, because ultimately, it's a story about the human heart."
While horror is at the core, healing also plays a vital role in moving the story forward. As Elham comes to terms with her destiny and beliefs, she gains the ability to change reality based on the choices you make. That means branching storylines and gameplay focused on Elham and her shadow, all wrapped in hand-drawn, anime-inspired art and an emotional soundtrack.
If you want to get an early taste, a demo will be available during October's Steam Next Fest, starting October 19. The full game launches November 3 on PC via Steam and Itch.io.
