Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Won't Be Shown Until 2027, Neil Druckmann Confirms

Remember when Naughty Dog first teased Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet? It's been almost two years, and we still know next to nothing about it. Well, grab a snack, because you're going to be waiting a while longer.

In a new post on Naughty Dog's official blog, studio lead Neil Druckmann explained that the team is hard at work on what he calls "Naughty Dog's most ambitious game yet." And yes, he's talking about Intergalactic. "There's an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we're stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory," he wrote. But don't get too excited just yet.

"We need to cook for just a little bit longer," Druckmann continued. "So we want to set expectations: we're going to be quiet for the rest of this year. In 2027, that changes. We'll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan's wild sci-fi adventure." Jordan, by the way, is the game's protagonist, played by Tati Gabrielle. So mark your calendars for 2027 – that's when the real hype train leaves the station.

Druckmann knows the wait has been tough. "We know it's been a long time since we've had much to share with you," he said. "We don't take your continued support for granted." The team is putting in the work, though. "We're working incredibly hard to make something worthy of your patience," the blog update concluded. "Until then…"

So what have we gotten since the initial reveal? Not much. The last big update came at the end of August, when Naughty Dog teased that it had finished filming an "ambitious" cinematic shoot with Gabrielle. That's it. No gameplay, no story details, just a whole lot of mystery.

If you're a Naughty Dog fan, you're probably used to playing the long game. The studio is known for taking its time to polish its projects, and Intergalactic sounds like it's no exception. Druckmann's comments suggest this is a massive undertaking, one that needs every bit of that extra time to get right.
