Resident Evil Requiem Sets Series Record for Completion Rate

Resident Evil Requiem just keeps breaking records. This time, though, the buzz isn't about sales or review scores — it's about how many of you are actually finishing the game.

According to the data, Requiem has the highest completion rate in the entire Resident Evil series on both Steam and PS5. On Steam, a whopping 72.8% of players have earned the achievement for beating the main story on any difficulty. For comparison, the rest of the series looks like this: Resident Evil 4 Remake sits at 60.4% on Steam and 54.7% on PS5, Resident Evil Village at 58.3% and 39.6%, Resident Evil 3 Remake just over 50% on Steam, Resident Evil 2 Remake at 51% for Leon's route and 36.4% for Claire's, and Resident Evil 7 around 47% historically.

So why are so many of you sticking with it to the end? Analysts and the dev team point to a few smart structural choices. The big one is the dual-protagonist system. Grace Ashcroft's chapters lean into classic survival horror, putting the focus on running and hiding, while Leon S. Kennedy's sections deliver a much more aggressive action experience. That constant shift in pacing and tone keeps things fresh and stops you from burning out on any single playstyle.

The second factor is the flexible camera. Capcom explained that this feature was a direct response to feedback from Resident Evil 7, where first-person was the only option and some players admitted they simply couldn't play it because of how scary it was. Requiem lets you swap freely between first-person and third-person, so you can pick whatever keeps you comfortable enough to push forward.

Here's the kicker, though: it's not because the game is short. According to HowLongToBeat, the average main story run in Requiem clocks in at around 11 hours, which is right in line with other entries in the series. In other words, you're putting in roughly the same amount of time as previous games — you're just far less likely to drop out halfway through.

Early on, Requiem's completion rate was already sitting at around 60%, which was competitive with older titles right out of the gate. Six months later, that number has climbed to a series-record high.
