Ever wonder what happens when the studio behind Mass Effect closes and its former devs launch a spiritual successor? You get Exodus, and it's already listening to you.
After EA shut down BioWare and ended Mass Effect 5, Archetype Entertainment—co-founded by ex-BioWare devs Chad Robertson, James Ohlen, and Drew Karpyshyn—dropped a fresh look at its sci-fi RPG Exodus. Specifically, they showed off a visual rework of the male player-character model.
When GameSpot previewed Exodus in late August, male protagonist Jun Aslan had a five-o'clock shadow and a very different bone structure. Now, he's got a whole new face. In a new video on Archetype's YouTube channel, general manager Chad Robertson explained the change came from player feedback.
"We've seen your conversations and feedback over the last few months around our male Jun character model," Robertson said. "We've been listening, and we take that feedback seriously. We've continued to refine Jun as we've worked on him and the rest of the game."
But what about female Jun? Archetype hasn't revealed her yet, but the devs say she's on the way. "Is FemJun on your mind?" a post on the official Exodus website asks. "Ours too! And we're happy to say yes, she's coming... soon™. We've got something special cooking for her reveal, and we think it'll be worth the wait."
Exodus launches on April 7, 2027, and you can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
What do you think of male Jun's new look? Will you be picking this up when it launches?
