Ready to map uncharted worlds, rally your crew, or vanish into the shadows? Stars Reach has you covered either way.
The next major update for Stars Reach is called Lead the Way, and it's bringing three new professional skills to the table. The headline acts are Cartography, Leadership, and Stealth — though as the reveal points out, the patch isn't strictly about leading the way.
That's because Stealth is aimed squarely at the lone wolves out there. If you'd rather go your own way than follow someone else's banner, this is the skill line for you. It's all about sneaking around and unleashing some pretty nasty attacks, which sounds like a very different flavor of gameplay from the group-focused Leadership path.
So the update covers both sides of the player spectrum. Want to be the person everyone follows? Leadership has your back. Prefer to slip past danger and strike from the shadows? Stealth is calling your name. And Cartography rounds out the trio, giving explorers something new to dig into as they chart their way across the game's worlds.
The three skills together suggest Lead the Way is shaping up to be a pretty varied patch — less a single playstyle push and more of a spread of options for different kinds of players. Whether you're the type to organize a squad, quietly solo your way through content, or just lose yourself in exploration, there's apparently something here with your name on it.
Details beyond the three skill names are still thin, so we don't yet know exactly how Cartography, Leadership, and Stealth will play out in practice or when the update will land. But for a game built around player-driven worlds, adding new professional paths is always a big deal — these are the systems that define what you actually do day to day.
We'll be keeping an eye out for more specifics on Lead the Way as Stars Reach gets closer to rolling it out. In the meantime, the big question is which of the three skills you'd pick first.
Are you plotting a stealthy ambush build, or are you already drafting your leadership master plan? What do you think of the new skill lineup?
