Ready to take your sniping to the next level in Helldivers 2? The upcoming Scope of Authority Warbond is packed with long-range firepower and stealthy gear, and it's landing very soon. Whether you're a seasoned marksman or just want to try a new playstyle, this Warbond has something to offer.
The Scope of Authority Warbond releases on October 20. Arrowhead hasn't given an exact time, but based on the previous Warbond, Ironclad Democracy, it could drop at either 9AM UTC or 12PM UTC. That's 5AM PDT / 8AM EDT / 1PM BST / 2PM CEST if you're keeping track. Once it's live, you can grab it from the Superstore for 1,000 Super Credits or one Warbond Token.
So what's inside? The star of the show is the R-40 Sightliner, a bolt-action sniper rifle that fires powerful armor-piercing rounds. It's a primary weapon, and while its exact penetration isn't confirmed, it can apparently take down a Hulk with a headshot, so it's likely at least Heavy penetration. For close encounters, you've got the P-44 Mist, a fast-handling machine pistol similar to the Redeemer. And the G-11 Caltrops is a throwable mine that scatters proximity-detonated submunitions, damaging and stunning enemies.
On the Stratagem side, there's the AMW-20 Apex, a massive backpack-fed anti-materiel rifle designed for taking down heavy foes at long range. It even supports reload assists from a nearby spotter. Then there's the LAS-44 Nova, an energy-based sniper rifle with theoretically infinite ammo if you manage heat well, and it charges up briefly before firing a non-explosive projectile.
The armor sets are where things get really interesting. The SS-33 Mimetic Marshal is a light ghillie suit, while the SS-15 Focal Point is medium armor. Both come with the Stationary Shroud passive, which reduces weapon sway and detection range while crouching or prone, making you harder to spot and easier to aim. Plus, they feature adaptive camouflage—a first for Helldivers 2—that changes your armor's color scheme based on the mission biome. Expect five colorways: forest green-and-red, jungle green, snow white, desert khaki, and rock grey.
Cosmetics include the Mimetic Mesh Cape and Boundary Banner Cape (both with adaptive camo), player banners, the Manual Ballistic Projection Protocol emote, and the Longshot player title. Sniper playstyles aren't always top-tier, so only time will tell how this Warbond stacks up against the best. But for fans of stealth and precision, it's looking promising.
