In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Merrill responded to a fan asking about the MMO's status. He didn't give a release date or any juicy details, but he made it clear that the team is still working on it. 'It remains our grail quest,' he said, which is both reassuring and a little intimidating. After all, the grail wasn't exactly easy to find.

For those who need a refresher: Riot announced the MMO in December 2020, with executive producer Greg Street (formerly of World of Warcraft fame) leading the charge. Since then, we've seen concept art and heard whispers, but nothing concrete. In 2022, Street even admitted that the project was 'rethinking' its direction, which led to some speculation that it might be in trouble. But now, with Merrill's comments, it's clear the dream is still alive.

So, what can we expect from a League of Legends MMO? Well, if Riot's other projects are anything to go by, it'll be polished, ambitious, and deeply tied to the lore of Runeterra.
