Nodusfall Trailer Looks Like Multiplayer Elden Ring, But It's From Genshin Devs

Ever wondered what would happen if Genshin Impact's developer decided to make a souls-like? Well, wonder no more. At Gamescom 2026, Hoyoverse dropped a surprise announcement for Nodusfall, a multiplayer action RPG that looks suspiciously like Elden Ring. And we mean that in the best way possible.

The reveal came during Opening Night Live, where host Geoff Keighley introduced the game as one where players take on the role of Weavers—heroes who must team up to battle 'mythic beings' in a world where 'divine authority has crumbled and order has collapsed.' Sounds epic, right?

But here's the thing: the trailer didn't exactly hide its inspirations. Multiple shots could've been ripped straight from Elden Ring. There's a boss that looks almost identical to Malenia, the infamous rot goddess who gave players nightmares in 2022. And another boss? He's giving major Godfrey vibes, complete with a lion-like companion. If you're going to borrow, borrow from the best, I guess.

Of course, FromSoftware has already dipped its toes into multiplayer Elden Ring with Nightreign in 2025, and there's The Duskbloods coming to Switch 2 later this year. So the souls-like multiplayer space is getting crowded. But Hoyoverse has a different angle—they're known for free-to-play gacha games like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero. So the big question on everyone's mind: how will Nodusfall be monetized? Will we be pulling for new weapons and characters in a gacha system? Or will it be a premium purchase?

Hoyoverse hasn't revealed any release date or platforms yet, but if history is any guide, it'll hit PC first, with consoles likely later. All their previous games have done that.
