GTA 6 Leak Spotted Mocking Naughty Dog's Lack of New PS5 Games

Ever noticed how game developers sometimes sneak little jokes into their worlds? Well, the latest GTA 6 leaks are full of them, and one particular gag seems aimed straight at Naughty Dog. If you've been following the leaks from the infamous Cyberleek, you know they've uncovered tons of details. But this one is easy to miss: a shelf full of game covers includes a title that's clearly poking fun at The Last of Us.

The fake cover reads "We Came Together: 1, 2, & 3 Remasters of the Remixes," and the font and orange color scheme are dead ringers for The Last of Us logo. It's a cheeky nod to how Naughty Dog has spent the PS5 generation re-releasing and remastering old favorites instead of dropping something brand new. And it's not just Naughty Dog getting roasted—there's also a cover that looks like a souls-like game, probably taking a jab at FromSoftware's genre dominance.

Why the ribbing? Well, compared to the PS3 and PS4 eras, Naughty Dog's output on PS5 has been pretty thin. We've seen remasters of Uncharted and The Last of Us, plus PC ports, but no fresh single-player adventures. The studio's big project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is still in the works, and reports suggest it's targeting a mid-2027 release. That would mean the last entirely new game from Naughty Dog was 2020's The Last of Us Part 2—a long gap, to say the least.

There are reasons for the slowdown, of course. Modern game development is way more complex and time-consuming, and Naughty Dog also spent years on The Last of Us Online before ultimately canceling it. That project alone ate up massive resources without ever shipping. So while it's fun to see GTA 6 poking fun, it's not like Naughty Dog is slacking off—they're just navigating the realities of making big games in this era.

Meanwhile, Rockstar is gearing up for an official GTA 6 reveal on August 27, after weathering a week of leaks. The leaker's identity is still unknown, but former Rockstar North director Obbe Vermeij has weighed in, saying the leaks aren't as catastrophic as the internet thinks—certainly not on the level of the infamous Hot Coffee scandal.
