The easiest way to get there is to start at the Captain's Brat enemy spawn, then look for Penniless Pete nearby. Once you spot Penniless Pete, follow the road to his left and go behind the wall. After passing the wall, you'll see the pond area, and Shiro will be on the opposite side, sporting the Fighting Style trainer quest marker above his head.

Once you've found Shiro, just talk to him and choose the option to learn Novice Swordsman. It'll cost you 250 Gold—that's it. No quests, no extra steps. After paying, the style is yours, and it'll automatically equip, replacing your previous fighting style.
